Appearance: Sapwood is white yellowish; heartwood is brown to red. Grain is interlocked with frequent ribbon striping. Texture is medium to coarse.
Properties: Besides tearing of interlocked grain during planing, Tiama generally works well machine tools. Shows good stability. Moderately resistant to rot and insect attacks.
Finishing: Tiama has good finishing properties.
Applications: Used for boat and yacht construction, flooring, furniture, veneers, paneling, plywood.
